The Harvest Moon
By Janeal Mulaney
Outside my window is a bright yellowish light,
I look out to find the biggest moon I’ve ever seen
Sitting low on the horizon,
A hazy red ring stretches out to caress the black sky
I watch with anticipation as it rises upwards above the limbs
of a tree
A big ball of yellow fading to orange then red
A misty gray cloud lazily glides across it circumference
A beautiful starlit night, a sight to behold,
As stories in my head unfold.
